上海博物馆东馆 currently hosts an extraordinary exhibition titled "Starlight China: The Ancient Shu Civilization of Sanxingdui and Jinsha". This is the first special exhibition since the opening of the new venue. The event showcases a collection of 363 important artifacts from ancient Shu civilization, borrowed from 28 leading institutions across the country in the field of cultural heritage and archaeology.

Organized around three main themes - "Heavenly Mandate and Cosmic Order", "Earthly Riches and Sublime Artifacts", and "Human Harmony and Virtuous Rule" - the exhibition provides a comprehensive exploration into the origins, characteristics, and developmental trajectory of this enigmatic ancient civilization. Notably, about one-third of the displayed items are recent archaeological discoveries, including the Golden Masked Bronze Head with Coiffure, the Bronze Dragon with Pigsnout Face, the Standing Human Figure with Flowing Hair, the Large Bronze Mask, the Seated Human Figure with Long Hair, and the Bronze Divine Beast. These artifacts offer fresh insights into the artistic achievements and technological prowess of ancient Shu.

Among the exhibited pieces, the elaborately crafted gold masks, intricately designed bronze figures, and other ceremonial objects exemplify the advanced craftsmanship and spiritual beliefs of this early civilization. They stand as testaments to a once-thriving culture that continues to captivate scholars and enthusiasts alike.
